I waited a few days after completing this book before I reviewed it. It didn't make any difference. I did not care for the story and I thought the good doctor was a hair this side of crazy. The story did not flow well for me and it was just plain strange. Straight from the book: After ten years as a gynecologist, he'd learned to channel his sexual energy elsewhere when he walked into an examination room to see a patient.

It was all professional.

BE THE FIRST TO KNOW

That was Save yourself time, money and aggravation. That was just too weird and had a huge ick factor! I also never had a good mental image of what Michelle looked like. The cover shows a Caucasian woman but a few times in the book her fingers and legs were described as brown. Very confusing for those of us who create images in their minds. I did not connect with any character in this book. There were , yes, two-hundred instances of his dead wife's name being used in this page book And what adult in their right mind would name their child Precious??

I pitied that little girl being stuck with a name like that. Did her parents' not give a thought to the teasing and ridicule she would receive in school?? I will close here because I don't have anything good to say about this book. I cannot in good conscience recommend it. I wanted to love this book. It appeared to have it all, a likable heroine, a handsome and wealthy hero, and motherless child.

If the author would have kept it that simple, it would have been better. The back story of the main characters became a far-fetched and convoluted mess. It read like a soap opera. And the language I'll admit, crude and crass euphemisms for sex and sexual organs aren't for everybody. Then again, using correct medical terminology during an intense love scene isn't exactly I wanted to love this book.

Then again, using correct medical terminology during an intense love scene isn't exactly the way to go either. The inevitable conflict was no surprise but the character's responses to it were unexpected. All in all, it wasn't horrible, but I would only recommend it to young women who were into overly dramatic and drawn out romances. If you're a mature reader, move on. Ross did a fantastic job spinning this tale. Strong characters and endearing scenes that makes you laugh, cry, smile and even holla'.

Precious, Michelle's ward just a hoot! Michelle, so strong and dedicated to everyone! Erik no words to describe him but "all male". Mrs' Hayes' character was one of mystery to me as though you was a fairy godmother. I loved it and recommend it! View all 5 comments. Jan 21, Kim rated it really liked it.

My first read from this author and I really enjoyed it. The chemistry between Erik and Michelle was off the charts. They had a cute tit for tat relationship in the beginning which was pretty comical at times. Once they got down to their true feelings for one another the pages of this book were on fire. Looking forward to reading book 2. Dec 04, Tiffanie rated it really liked it Shelves: books-i-own. This book was amazing I just couldn't put it down.

It took me through so many emotions that sometimes I wanted to scream but to me that's what makes a great read. Something you can get lost in that just pulls you into the story until the very end. I can't wait for the other books in the series to drop. If you haven't guessed already, strongly recommend this book. May 25, Silverana rated it really liked it Shelves: kindle. Good writing and a good set up of initial meeting between Michelle and Erik. I liked reading about a female character who was almost completely broke in the beginning and hurt both emotionally and physically as a child and in later years.

I did not see it coming. It was sweet how Michelle g Good writing and a good set up of initial meeting between Michelle and Erik. It was sweet how Michelle got emotional so easily whenever she saw someone else hurting. Erik was also a good hero. He has been through so much in relation to the death of his wife. There is regret, loneliness, and guilt. He not only lost his wife but his best friend with whom he does not speak with anymore.

He tries to guard his feelings so much but ends up having such strong feelings for another woman in his life. Some of the parts of the story were painful as it often is with death and some of the what-ifs that come with it. There is a side story of a love triangle which I hate reading about but it was a little different and interesting. I wanted to figure out what was going on. The book at times touches upon old fashioned practices regarding intimacy and I was glad that was included since nowadays it seems that people can just have all kinds of relationships with anybody.

I think the main reason for me not giving a 5 is this one. The book does a great job of showing how if you really love someone, you can forgive so much and welcome them back. Love was definitely portrayed so well in the beginning and a large part of the middle. But this story has that common scenario in which there are misunderstandings that keep the H and h apart for way too long.

In this case, both characters are seen with their exes or people vying for their attention which obviously will give the wrong impression. Not only that, one of the characters could have asked a blood relative for help but chose to do the most obvious, sure to cause a conflict act, by asking help from someone from their past.

Sometimes as a reader of romance with these types of situations I am left feeling like I was not given enough details. Overall, it was a good story that definitely seemed real. For picky and holders of extreme notions about love type of people like me, this almost made me think less firmly about mistakes made in love. It pushed me to get over what is lost and think of what we can have!

Aug 26, Dorothy Gagnon rated it it was amazing. Michelle and her brother, Robert were left on their own when their mother died. Abandoned by their drunken dad, Robert not only took care of Michelle, but managed to become a Dentist with a successful practice.

They survived and grew up with the help of their mom's friend, Mrs. Michelle was a compassionate, kind and giving person, earned a college degree, moved away and got a fantastic job. Her dad returned and in need of a place to stay. She helped, but only to have her worthless dad steal all her money, credit cards, and much more. She also lost her job during the economic crisis and had to go back to her hometown penniless to search for a job. She still managed to contribute her spare time and any money she could scrape together to help children in the same situation as they were left.

Eric, a wealthy widower that lost his wife in an accident caused by a drunken driver, was in a search of a nanny for his 7 year-old daughter, to replace the last one who moved. Michelle applied for this position and tried to talk Eric into hiring her to utilize her great experience working with children. He had reservations because of her age and her gorgeous body, and the sensual feelings towards her that he hasn't had since the death of his wife. Then he was informed and highly recommended by his housekeeper Mrs. Hayes to hire her because she knew Michelle. Also because his daughter took to her right away and he heard his daughter laugh for the first time in two years.

A passionate romance bloomed quickly, and though Eric fell hard for Michelle, he wanted to find his wife's murderer before he committed to her. Solving this mystery while holding back on anyone knowing they fell in love, brought a tremendous and tough challenge to both of them. At first Michelle didn't tell Eric her father was a drunk given the nature of his wife's death because she knew that it could not be him, as he left town before the accident occurred.

Happiness, sorrow, and unexpected circumstances arise, and keeps you sitting on the edge of your chair waiting to see how everything can work out. May 28, Paula Legate rated it really liked it Shelves: romance-suspence. This book pulled me in right away. It was an emotional story. Michelle worked and saved for years. In a blink of an eye she lost it all.

Her father who was a drunk, stole all her money that she had saved up. Afterwards she lost her job because of the slow economy. Erik LaCrosse is still grieving his wife Cassie. She was hit by a drunk driver, and he has hired a P. He is raising his 5 year old daughter Precious. Her nanny left them to get married. When he went through an agency to find another nanny, he asked for anyone 50 years old or older.

He was not happy when he sees Michelle step out of the taxi. She is young, and beautiful. He gives her a chance and she falls in love with the little girl, making her laugh. The two really have fun together. From the first time Michelle and Erik met, there was a sexual chemistry between the two.

For most of the book Erik was not ready to give his heart away again, for part of his heart still belonged to his wife that died. When he was ready, he found out some information that brought him to his knees. She left after that. It took months for Erik to realize that he was a jerk. The end was really good.

Nov 30, Heather Miller rated it really liked it. I haven't read any other books by this author, this book was enjoyable. This book is about, Michelle who has interviewed for a nanny position to look after a wealthy Doctor's daughter. The Doctor - Erik, is a widower and hasn't really moved on in the 2 yrs since he's wife's passing. Michelle was in the Human Resources profession, however, due to her companies downsizing she lost her job and was down on her luck.

She works at a local teen community center and helps the kids with homework, advice, anything they may need. We find out that the Erik's wife was killed in an accident involving a drunk driver. We also find out that Michelle's Dad was a drunk and very abusing towards her and her brother, and she instantly thinks it might have been him who killed the Erik's wife. A biracial father black white looking for older nanny for his daughter but, reluctantly hired a young female black that needed a job. This story seems extremely fast paced. The father has issues betraying his deceased wife and secrets around her death effects both of the characters.

Mis communication and lack of full disclosure causes huge problems. But, a Qwick lustful decisions have lasting effects. But, everything works out. The other issue is the narrator. First, her grasp of context and tone left a lot to be desired. Second, the heroine is African American and the hero is biracial, but the narrator is Caucasian.

Her voice fit the story even less than the cover, which depicts a lighter complexion woman with long hair. The heroine is described as a darker complected woman with extremely short hair. Overall, it was a decent story, but I wouldn't recommend it. I I like the story of love but the coincidences were just too many to believe after a while.

Making the story line fall short. This is the first audio-book I've listened to from this author and I'm a bit conflicted about it. It's a sweet story and it flows nicely and I like it when a writer takes their time to completely flesh out a story and Ana E Ross delivers on that part!

There's a disconnect from the audio-book cover and the writer's description of the main character. I understand not wanting to be pigeon holed, how about not putting a model on the cover at all and letting the reader find out character details through the natural progression of the story? I really had a problem with "the bride" withholding very important information from her husband and I found that to be very frustrating.

But the wonderful way the author brings the story to life completely outweigh the flaws. I look forward to listening to more audio-books from this author and the narrator! Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why? What other book might you compare The Doctor's Secret Bride to and why? Scott books it seems like it was interracial which was great.

How does this one compare? If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be? Any additional comments? The story started out very interesting but then it started to drag on. It's would be a good book to read but not listening to on a long road trip. This is just my opinion. Listen free for 30 days. By: Ana E Ross. Narrated by: Megan Solesski. Length: 11 hrs and 1 min. Michelle grew up on the wrong side of the tracks basically, while Erik always had a silver spoon in his mouth. I didn't like how Erik wanted to keep their relationship a secret simply due to the fact the reporters would have a field day with it. I think if he truly loved her he wouldn't have kept their relationship a secret.

However, Michelle was fine with not sharing their love for the public. I didn't like that it was a big secret. Mar 09, VaLinda Miller rated it it was amazing. You know what I truly enjoyed about this story is the emotional roller coaster between Michelle and Erik, well written I must say. The flow of romance between each stepping forward and backward.

The cagey way they look at each other. The quickness of Michelle and Precious friendship blooming into love. It was so soft and exciting at the same time. What a great romance story.

May 13, Rhonda rated it really liked it. This is one of my favorite tropes. It just feels so naughty. The widowed billionaire and his younger, broke nanny. Ross definitely added several different spins on this story though. Poor Michelle has been through the ringer. She had a very rough childhood after her mother died giving birth to her. These two fight their attra This is one of my favorite tropes. These two fight their attraction for as long as they can, but the chemistry is scorching.

Michelle Carter has had a very tough life but she sees the positive, keeps moving forward and gives to the the community.

I liked that her character did not really change in that sense throughout the book, she had goals and they continued throughout the story. I love to read a book where you can connect and feel the characters feelings, and this book was written just like that for me. My heart broke and fell in love right along with Michele's. Now, I am still not surer how much of a fan I am of Erik but he sure does know how to "love" a woman. Cannot wait to read more from this author.

I don't want to give anything away in the story, but I was kind of shocked with one of the subjects Ana E. Ross talked about. I have not seen it talked about in too many books over the years. But, I have to say, she did a great job! I can't wait to get the next book in the Billionaire Brides of Granite Falls series! Sep 23, Dorel rated it it was amazing.
